No More Junk Mail
Did you know that Americans spend approximately 8 months of their lives opening junk mail? Over 90 million trees are destroyed each year to make the paper for unwanted mailings; each year 5.6 million tons of junk mail are generated, and 4.3 million tons of paper are thrown away. Three hundred and forty-thousand garbage trucks are needed to haul away all the junk mail that doesn’t make it to the recycling bin.
If you’d like to reduce the amount of unsolicited advertising mail you receive, you can write a letter to the Mail Preference Service (MPS), a free service provided by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA). In your letter, request that you be deleted from all mailing and marketing lists. Be sure to sign and date your letter. Your information will be kept in their database for 5 years and will be mailed to business subscribers four times each year.
